An Italian Winter Feast

As the nights draw in and the temperature drops this is the perfect time to enjoy the rich and varied dishes of Italian gastronomic tradition.

Well-loved guest teacher Sophie Braimbridge will show you how the Italians harness the flavours of autumn and winter from hearty braises, to steaming soups, satisfying gnocchi to meaty legumes to create an amazing spread of comforting dishes that you’ll want to cook throughout the season.

You’ll spend the morning cooking delicious recipes with help from both Sophie herself and Gee and then sitting down to lunch to enjoy the fruits of your labour with a glass or two of delicious wine.

Sophie’s Bio

Sophie Braimbridge is a chef, writer and cookery presenter. She has written several books, including Simply Italian, Food for the Heart, Food for Energy, and Healthy Cooking for IBS.

Trained by the Roux Brothers, Sophie has mastered a vast range of cookery styles by cooking for eight years at some of the world’s leading restaurants: Le Gavroche, the River Cafe in the UK; and Chez Panisse in San Francisco.

While writing her cookery books, she ran her own cookery school, ‘Sophies Cookery Cube’ and is currently one of the guest chefs with Stirred Travel. Stirred Travel offer luxury cooking holidays with in depth, hands on classes using local and seasonal produce in stunning country houses in Veneto and Puglia.

As well as teaching in Italy, Sophie is a freelance chef.

Class Structure

All classes will adhere to current Government guidelines on Covid 19 and social distancing will be in place.

Depending on the guidelines the class will be a combination of Sophie demonstrating, cooking together if we can and maybe cooking some processes independently – there is always lots to do. So hopefully your day will comprise of a mixture of hands on cookery and demonstrations performed by Sophie who is running the session. You will be eating the food that has been cooked during your class for lunch, usually with wine or elderflower cordial and to keep guests and staff safe socially distanced eating and dining will take place.
